The Officina d'Arte in Verona organizes an exhibition in the showroom placed in Corso Porta Borsari dedicated to: THE FUTURISMS IN VERONA: THE BOCCIONI GROUP This exhibition, presented by Giorgio Cortenova (Director of the Palaces Forti and Gran Guardia), will take place in the period November 23rd, 2002 - March 30th, 2003 and it offers a sort of reflection on Futurism, the great Italian avant-garde that left its indelible mark on the art of this century in Italy and in the whole world, thanks to its innovative expectations. In particular, we aim to zero in on the innovative and extremely original contribution made to this movement by the Boccioni Group from Verona (Ambrosi, Di Bosso, Verossì, Scurto, Mariotti, Bonente, Tomba, Anselmi, Bruno and Tullio Aschieri, Bertozzi, Manca Dell'Asinara, Pesenti, Sacchetti, Ferrante) and by other Veronese artists who did not sign the futurist manifesto and nevertheless reflected the influence exerted by Marinetti's avant-garde (Zamboni, Pigato, Trentini).
It won't simply be an exhibition of painting (air painting) or of sculpture (air sculpture), being Futurism a so complex and complicated movement, that it forcefully invades every artistic front, from the musical to the literary one, from the fashion and the applied arts to the industrial design. The Veronese futurism does not turn out to be much studied till today, in spite of its acknowledged artistic and intellectual centrality, not only in Veneto, but also on the international level. So, it seems very important to us, to pay a significant tribute to the Futurism in Verona, to its leading figures, through a fresh and careful research that marks a new chapter in the close examination of the creative developments of the 20th century. The exhibition will be accompanied by its own catalogue, written by the Publishing House Skirà in Milan.
